Pierantoni is top vote-getter

District Magistrate Fred Pierantoni III garnered more votes in Hughestown than any other candidate in last Tuesday’s general election. Pierantoni was running for re-election and won handily. He came away with 394 Hughestown votes.

A total of 449 votes were cast.

Mayor Paul Hindmarsh was re-elected with 328 votes. Marie Griglock, wirh 355, had the highest total among the four victorious council members. Robert Gable had 319, Paul Murphy 271 and Barbara Gatto 254.

Ann Merlino won for auditor with 340 votes.

Totals in the Pittston Area School director race were: Marilyn Starna, 269; Bruce Knick, 257; Dr. Ross Latona, 256; Bob Linskey, 241; Robert Lampman, 197. Inspector of Election: Geri Sarti, 286; Lois Heckman Pierce 86.

Judge Thomas Burke garnered 263 “yes” votes in the borough.

Borough Notes

Chief Steve Golya, Jim Murphy and Tom McFarland assisted on election day. Historian Margaret Monk also attended. The election committee is Harry Orzello, Diane Alba, Gerri Sarti, Louis Pierce, Ruth Orr.

Hughestown Borough council will meet Monday, November 9 at 7:30 with Barbara Gatto presiding. Council members Wayne Quick and Marie Griglock will attend the consolidation of the Luzerne County Tax Collection Committee for Act 32 meeting at LCCC November 9 at 6 p.m.
