Special late-night bingo Friday at Germania

Calling all of you bingo lovers! There is a new and exciting one-time only special bingo event taking place this Friday right here in Duryea.

On Friday, Nov. 6, there will be a big late-night bingo bonanza at the Germania Hose Company, 430 Foote Ave. The doors open at 9 p.m. and the fun starts at 10:30 p.m.

This all-exclusive deal includes a package, bonanza, all specials, and truck fund special. There will also be a guaranteed $1,000 jackpot and big payouts throughout the night in addition to free pizza, doughnuts, and refreshments. For more information please call Patty at 457-3062.

And don’t forget about the weekly Duryea bingo which takes place every Monday at the Germania Hose Company. The doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the games begin at 6:30 p.m. There is a guaranteed $1,000 jackpot every week.

The Duryea Lions Club still has a few corn brooms available for $10 each at Rehoski’s Market, 201 Foote Ave.

Wimpies, Hot Dogs

The Crossin Towers Friendly Social Club will have a wimpie and hot dog luncheon Thursday, Nov. 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the community room of Frank P. Crossin Towers, 500 Brown St. The menu includes your choice of a wimpie or a hot dog, potato chips, dessert, and a beverage. The lunches are $3.50 each. Takeouts will be available too. The public is invited to attend. The chairperson for this event is Marie Chromey, and the co-chairperson is Paul Echalk.

Excelsior Meeting

The members of Excelsior Hose Co. No. 2 will meet Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the hose company, 798 Foote Ave. Officers will be nominated at this time. President Frank Groblewski will preside over the meeting. All members are urged to attend.

Roast Beef Dinner

Duryea V.F.W. Post 1227 will have its 52nd annual roast beef dinner Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7 from 4-8 p.m. The menu will include roast beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, rolls and butter, and coffee or tea. Takeouts will be available too. Tickets are $8 each and can be purchased at the post home, 492 Stephenson St., or from any of the post officers: John Pliska, commander; John Wolfram, senior vice commander; Joseph Ziemba, junior vice commander; Thomas McGlynn, adjutant; David Komar, quartermaster; Adam Kilyanek, chaplain; Daniel Stella, surgeon; Henry Ostrowski, trustee; Robert Clarke, trustee; and Ronald Skamanich, service officer. The members ask that tickets be purchased early to ensure enough food is made for the dinner.

Legion Auxiliary

The Duryea American Legion Brennan Regan Post 585 Ladies Auxiliary, the Duryea American Legion Brennan Regan Post 585, and the Duryea V.F.W. Post 1227 will sponsor a joint blood drive Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the V.F.W., 492 Stephenson St. Anyone who would like to schedule their donation time or volunteer for this cause can sign up at the American Legion, 329 Main St., or the V.F.W. Post 1227. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross in honor of veterans and our military troops.

The Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the post home, 329 Main St. All members are urged to attend.

The auxiliary would also like to remind families of auxiliary members to please update any membership statuses by calling the post at 457-4242 or mailing a note to the post home at 329 Main St., Duryea PA 18642.

Lions Pride

The Duryea Lions Pride Den 4 will meet Tuesday, Nov. 10. For time and location information on how your son can join in the fun, please call Ann Edwards at 457-8402.

VFW Raffle

The members of V.F.W. Post 1227 are selling raffle tickets. For just $1 each, ticket holders will have a chance to win one of 60 prizes. Tickets can be purchased at the post home, 492 Stephenson St., or from any of the officers. The drawing will take place following the Veterans Day memorial services Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the post home.

Stuffed Cabbage Sale

The ladies of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church will have a takeout stuffed cabbage sale Friday, Nov. 13 from 3-6 p.m. in the lower level of the church, 200 Stephenson St. The stuffed cabbages are $1.50 each. To place an order, please call Delores Biscontini at 457-9381 or Mary Jayne Milkanin at 457-6414. Please note a limited amount of cabbages will be made. Byron Wescott is the parish chairman.
