St. Anthony’s parish chicken dinner next Sunday

The Annual Chicken Dinner will be held next Sunday, November 1 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Take-outs from 11 a.m. to Noon. Sit-down dinners 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Halloween Party

Halloween Party for all children of St. Anthony of Padua Church on Sunday, November 1. Parade immediately following the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

Children should come in costume to the Mass. Forms are at the entrance of the Church. Deadline, Monday, October 26. Return your form to the CCD teacher or to the rectory.

WA Kiwanis

Wyoming Area Kiwanis President Bob Orlando had the pleasure of passing the Lieutenant Governor’s banner to Tunkhannock Kiwanis President Barb Hughes.

Orlando explained the club proudly displayed the banner at all meetings throughout the administration of Past Lieutenant Governor Megan Kuffa.

He expressed hope that the Tunkhannock Kiwanis Club would do the same during the term of current Lieutenant Governor Skip Felker.

President Hughes stated the Tunkhannock Club would be proud to do so.

Exeter Lions

The Exeter Lions Club conducted their first dinner meeting on October 7, at Valenti’s Restaurant, Exeter.

Special guest speaker was Mr. William Slavoski, resident Secret Service Agent, Scranton office.

Mr. Slavoski spoke to the membership about identity theft and how to avoid it.

St. Cecilia’s A&R

St. Cecilia’s Altar & Rosary Christian Mothers will sponsor the Annual Fatima Day Mass on Saturday, October 24.

Volunteers are needed to help out and also to provide light refreshments. Mass and the Anointing of the sick will be celebrated followed by a social in the Parish Center. Everyone from all parishes are invited to attend and you are encouraged to bring anyone who may have a need of our prayers at this special time.

Those who need transportation are asked to call Lori Alesson or the rectory during regular office hours at 654-2133

Trails of Terror

The "Trails of Terror" are still terrifying anyone brave enough to enter every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, through Halloween October 31, from dusk until 11p.m. The cost is still only $5 per person.

The trail is located on Wyoming Ave (RT. 11) in Exeter Borough across from Carter’s Ice Cream. Any questions email exeterparkhoseco@yahoo.com

Bake Sale

St. John the Baptist Church will hold a bake sale in the church hall this weekend. Hours are from 3-7:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Sunday. Bake sale items may be brought to the hall starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Volunteers are needed.

Zoning Hearing

The third hearing to consider a zoning variance for the proposed Wal-Mart development is scheduled for Tuesday October 27 6 p.m. at Wyoming Area High School.

St Anthony’s

Religious Education Classes Monday afternoon from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Grades 1 to 5. Monday evening from 6 to 7 pm. Grades 1 to 5. High School Students on Sunday at 9:15 a.m. Kindergarten children on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m.

Classes for all Confirmation students in the Public and Catholic Schools, grades 6 and 7, will be held on Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the Parish Center. After class the students will attend the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

The Christian Mothers Society will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Parish Center. Hostesses are: Catherine Fasciana, Beatrice Galli, Shirley Gerchak.

Weekend Masses: on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday at 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. and at 7 p.m. (the last Mass in the valley). Confessions are heard on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and before Masses (come early). The Holy Rosary will be recited 20 minutes before the weekend Masses.
