Anne Bramblett-Barr, Director of the West Pittston Library announced a line up of Fall Festival programs, parties, fundraisers, workshops and classes.
Listed are:
Winter Coat Drive: 9/1-11/13 - Help keep the less fortunate warm this winter by donating your gently used coat. Last year you helped donate over 200 coats. All coats will be given to CEP and distributed during their Thanksgiving Program.
Beginner Yoga: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9/7-11/30, 8:30-9:30 a.m. - $7.00 drop-in. Anne Bramblett Barr, library director and certified yoga instructor, leads a class for all experience levels. Classes are held in the former American Legion Building at 316 Linden St. by the Montgomery Ave. Elementary School.
West Pittston Library Book Club: First Tuesday of Each Month, 6:45 p.m. On September 7, we’ll discuss A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson and select our December 7 book, and on October 5 local author Lisa M. Miller will be leading a discussion of her book The Running Path.
First Annual Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser: $5 to enter; $5.00 to taste: 9/25 - Judging starts at 11:00 a.m.; sample the entries from 1:00-3:00 p.m. while supplies last! Stop by the Library and fill out an entry form and drop off your $5.00 entry fee by 9/20. Saddle up with your family, a team or ride solo—just make sure you pack your spice and competitive spirit. For $5 you can enjoy a pistol-packing sample of the chili entries while supplies last.

Mindfulness and Creativity Workshop: 10/4, 6:30-7:30 p.m. - Being mindful includes being fully aware of and attentive to one’s environment. It is accepting, in a non-judgmental way, situations that one may encounter. Dr. Estelle Campenni has investigated the effectiveness of simple creative tasks in helping people develop their capacity to be mindful. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce attendees to the concept of mindfulness and increase awareness of how each of us experiences this beneficial state in our personal lives.

Registration for the elementary boy’s basketball fall league will take place on the following dates at the high school gym today from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The league is open to any boy in the Wyoming Area School District in grades 1 through 6. Cost of the league is $35.00 per person.
Parents are reminded to bring insurance cards and have their child’s shirt size at the time of registration. Camp is scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 11 and will run every Saturday (unless noted on schedule) through November 6. League times are listed as: 1st and 2nd grade – 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m.; 3rd and 4th grade –10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; 5th and 6th grade – 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

West Pittston Borough Recycling Center on Delaware Avenue will remain open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
Curbside recycling is held on the first and third Thursdays of each month.
Recyclables including cardboard may be dropped off every Saturday at the Borough Garage, Delaware Avenue from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
The schedule for yard waste pick up is as follows: Monday - Montgomery Avenue to Erie Street; Tuesday - Montgomery Avenue to Susquehanna Avenue.
Residents are requested to put yard waste in containers weighing no more than 30-pounds and not in plastic bags.
