The West Wyoming Shade Tree Commission has been awarded a grant from the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority (LHVA).
With funding from this grant the West Wyoming Shade Tree Commission, with help from volunteers, will plant trees throughout the borough continuing the organizations goal of increasing the tree canopy. The trees for the project will be delivered this week.
Shade tree commission members will begin planting trees on Wednesday and will complete the planting on Sunday, Nov. 22, with help from the Wyoming Area Environmental Clubs headed by Damian Rutkoski.
The Shade Tree Commission is looking for volunteers to assist with the planting. If you can help, call Eileen Cipriani 287-3349.
The Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority has supported this project in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the National Park Service.
This is the first of two planting projects in the borough. If you requested a tree and it is not planted this week, it will be completed in the second project.
