Bernard C. Cigarski, 86, of Jackson Township went to be with the Lord, Friday morning. He was born on Jan. 15, 1922, on the family farm in Chase Pa., and spent most of his life farming. He was one of the original farmers for the Farmers’ Market on Public Square, Wilkes-Barre and the Pittston Farmers Market. He was also a staple at the Pittston Tomato Festival.

John B. Meade
John B. Meade, 82, of Dunmore, died October 31, 2008 at Mercy Hospital. His wife of 56 years is Ellen Conway Meade.Born June 16, 1926, in Pittston, son of the late Gordon and Katherine Gaffney Meade, he was a 1944 graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston, and served his country during World War II as an aviator/radioman in the Navy. After graduating from King’s College in 1950, he went on to a distinguished career with the FBI. His 29 years of service brought him to field assignments in the Louisville, KY; Miami, FL; New York City; Newark, NJ, and Philadelphia branches of the FBI. At retirement, he had been promoted to supervisory senior resident agent in the Scranton office. In the decade following his retirement from the bureau, he was appointed director of security at Northeastern Bank and later worked as an investigator for the Department of Defense. He was also member of the Retired Ex-FBI Society and St. Paul’s Church.
