Barbara Appnel

Barbara Appnel, 64, formerly of Avoca, and a resident of Mt. View Care Center, Scranton, died March 1, 2010, at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.

She was born in Avoca on June 22, 1945, and was a daughter of the late Edward M. and Dorothy (Jacek) Appnel. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Avoca, and she attended St. Mary’s School, Avoca, and Avoca High School, Avoca. She was one of the most socially active residents at the Mountain View Nursing Facility.

She is survived by her brothers, Edward J. Appnel and his wife, Cathy, of Avoca, Richard and Marie Appnel of Moosic; her sister, Patricia and her husband, Thomas Deitzer, of Tunkhannock; nieces and nephews, Edward T. Appnel, Christine Appnel, Lori Boggetti, Stacy Placek, and Heather Deitzer; great-nieces and nephews, Deidre Appnel, Brianne Appnel, Jade Casella, Blaise and Titus Boggetti and Lylah Placek and Sadie Placek; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were March 4 from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at SS Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. Interment parish cemetery.
