Daniel N. Shannon, 73, formerly of the Apollo Apartments, Pittston, died December 10, 2009 at Golden Meadow, East Mountain Nursing Home.

Born on November 2, 1936, in West Pittston, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Ermel Shannon. He graduated from Saint John the Evangelist High School, Pittston and was a retired limousine driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 635; he was also a member of Saint Mary, Help of Christians Parish, Pittston.

Surviving are two brothers, Howard, Pompano Beach, Florida, and Peter with wife Joan, Lancaster; a sister Dorothy Cook with husband Edward, Moosic; and an aunt, Ann Sherinsky, Harding.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Joseph, Thomas, and John; and a sister, Elizabeth.

The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Paul F. Leonard Funeral Home, 575 North Main Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Mary, Help of Christians Church, Pittston. Interment parish cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 7 to 9 p.m.
