George A. Batey

George A. Batey, 95, of Wyoming, died October 19, 2009.

Born in Plymouth, he was a son of the late George F. and Nellie Durbin Batey. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School and the Wyoming Seminary Dean’s School of Business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Prior to his retirement, He was employed by UGI as an accounting manager for 45 years. He was a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Wyoming Masonic Lodge No. 468 F.&A.M., Caldwell Consistory, Irem Temple AAONMS, the UGI Retirees and the Shawnee Senior Citizens.

Preceding him in death was his wife, the former Elizabeth Kostenbauder.

Surviving are daughters Lynn E. Dover and her husband, Howard, of State College, Pa; Ellen L. Behlke and her husband, Robert, of Wyoming; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, John, Glenmoore; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Oct. 23 in the Metcalfe and Shaver Funeral Home, Wyoming, with the Rev. Gordon E. Weightman, his pastor, officiating. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
