George Polansky, 87, of Pittston, died December 18, 2009 at Hospice Community Cure, Wilkes-Barre. He and his wife, the former Helen K. Lasky, were married for 66 years.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late George and Olena Polansky. He was a graduate of Taylor High School and was formerly employed by the former Chamberlin Corp., Scranton. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter.
He was also preceded in death by his grandson Michael Polansky, and brothers, John Vasil and Nick Petkovyat; and a sister, Ann.
He is also survived by sons, George Polansky and his wife Theresa, Bellefonte; and Joseph Polansky, and his wife Kathtryn, Scranton; a daughter, Dr. Janet Polansky and her husband Dr. Stephen Pandolph, State College; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Polansky and Michael Polansky, both of Sharon; sisters Mary Orchier of Flushing, NY; and Mary Smallwood of Sharon; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the Piontek Funeral Home, 204 Main St., Duryea with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church, Exeter. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Monday from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Wilkes-Barre.
