Joseph H. Emma, Sr.

Joseph John Emma Sr., 63, of Pittston, died October 20, 2009 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late Angelo and Margaret Terrano Emma. He attended Pittston Area High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an insurance salesman in the area. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 8335, Avoca, and the American Legion Post 477, Pittston.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carmel and Samuel. Surviving are daughter Maria Emma of Duryea; son Joseph Emma Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Pittston Township; twin brother John, of Doylestown; sister Gertrude Belotti of Old Forge; sister Grace Hazenski of Pittston; sister Angeline Jasinski of Pittston; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Oct. 23 from the Piontek Funeral Home, Duryea, with Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary Church, Duryea. Interment St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston. Military services were conducted by the American Legion Post 477, Pittston.
