Josephine M. Saporito

Josephine Marie Saporito, 74, died November 3, 2009 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, after enduring the damaging effects of diabetes for several years. She was a longtime resident of Forty Fort and the wife of Raymond Saporito for over 52 years.

She was born June 8, 1935, a daughter of the late Rose and Alfonso Leone. She was raised in Wyoming and attended Wyoming High School, graduating in 1953. After also graduating from Empire Beauty School and obtaining her cosmetology license, she owned and operated her own beauty salon for nearly 40 years, continuing to work until she became ill in 2006. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Leone; and sister, Joanne Leone.

She is also survived by her only child, Karen Proctor, and her husband, Randy, of Forty Fort; three grandchildren, Dominick, Shantee and Danielle, all of Forty Fort; sisters: Mrs. Beatrice Karcutskie of West Wyoming; Mrs. Agnes Rigle of Forty Fort; Mrs. Roseann Olechna of Pittston; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Nov. 7 from the Recupero Funeral Home, West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony’s Church. Interment Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
