Julie Mantione

Julie Mantione, 59, of Yatesville and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, lost her courageous battle with cancer on March 6, 2010.

Born July 31, 1950, in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Jennie Polomski Gutowski. She was a 1968 graduate of West Side Central Catholic High School in Kingston, and worked for the General State Authority at Hickory Run State Park before raising her family. She was an avid golfer and a member of Wyoming Valley Country Club for the past 28 years.

Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Joseph C. Mantione; daughters, Nicole Mantione, of Exeter; Tessa Mantione, of Yatesville, and Nina and her husband, Brad Altavilla, of Exeter; grandchildren, Grace, Nicholas and Julia Furcon and Mia and Marco Altavilla; sister, Barbara and her husband, Leonard Penkrot, of Shavertown; brother, Stanley and his wife, Joann Gutowski, of Michigan; nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held March 9 at the Church of Saint Therese, Wilkes-Barre.
