Mary A. Melone

Mary A. Melone, 97, of Mountain Top, died Sept. 23, 2009 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Maccaroni) Del Priore. She and her late husband, Anthony C. Melone, moved to Mountain Top in 1951. They were members of the St. Jude’s Church, and she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Rosary Makers for 40 years. She was also a founder of the St. Jude’s school cafeteria and volunteered there for 15 years. Mary also belonged to the Mountaintop Women’s Club.

Preceding her in death were two sons, Guy and Anthony J. Melone; two brothers, Joseph and James Del Priore; and a sister, Donata Francello.

Surviving are her son Ralph Melone and a daughter-in-law Eileen Melone, both of Wilkes-Barre; her sister Catherine Fasciana, West Pittston; two brothers, Carmen, Plains Township, and Dr. Ralph Del Priore, New Jersey; sisters-in-law Josephine Del Priore, West Pittston; Anne Marie Clarke, Pittston; Mrs. Carmen (Helen) Del Priore of Plains Township; grandchildren Renee and David Deboer, Exton; Dr. Paul and Sarah Melone, Tenafly, NJ; Elizabeth and Carmen Falcone, Palo Alto, Calif.; Nicholas and Jennifer Melone, New York City; Rita and Dr. Dan Schmidt, Madison, WI; great-grandchildren Rebecca, Michael, Luke, Sophia, Iliana, Zario, Maxim and Jack, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family attended a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude’s Church, Mountain Top. Arrangements were by the McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top.
