Raoul Walsh

Raoul “Peach” Walsh, 55, of died February 25, 2010, at Mercy Hospice. His wife of almost 30 years is the former Joan Comerford.

Born June 15, 1954, in Scranton, he was a son of Marion Wywiorski Walsh and the late Thomas M. Walsh. He was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Church, Tunkhannock. He was a 1972 graduate of Bishop Hannan High School. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, Pa., in 1976 and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Scranton in 1977. In addition, he holds a master’s in Health Sciences Management from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. He spent four years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, as a U.S. Navy officer in the Medical Service Corps. He was a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Hospital Financial Management Association. He was President and CEO of Tyler Memorial Hospital from July 2006 until he retired in July 2007. Previously he was CEO of Greene County Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg, for 17 years.

Also surviving are two sons, Colin Walsh, Los Angeles, CA, and Corey Walsh, currently at WVU Medical School in Morgantown, WV; a daughter, Alison Walsh, a senior at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA; a sister Kim Vangerelli and her husband, Barry, Laflin; a brother, Atty. Kevin Walsh, Wilkes-Barre; many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday from the Eugene A. Cusick Funeral Home, 217 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. The family requests that those attending the funeral go straight to the church. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
