Robert A. Lazevnick, 76, a guest at Wesley Village, Jenkins Township, formerly of Duryea, died February 1, 2010, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was born in Duryea on May 24, 1933, a son of the late John and Nellie Carey Lazevnick. He was a graduate of Duryea High School, class of 1950, and King’s College, class of 1961. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was a teacher of mathematics at Paulsboro High School, Paulsboro, NJ, and Riverside High School, Taylor. He also coached high school basketball at Paulsboro High School and football and girls track at Riverside High School. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Duryea, and the American Legion Post 585, Duryea.
He is survived by brothers John Lazevnick and his wife, Betty, Paulsboro, NJ; Edward Lazevnick of Duryea; and Bernard Lazevnick and his wife, Laura, of Jenkins Township; a sister, Lucille Lazevnick of Wesley Village, Jenkins Township, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Feb. 4 from the Piontek Funeral Home, Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, Duryea. Interment Parish Cemetery, Duryea.
