Robert L. Burke

Robert L. Burke, 64, of Dupont, died October 15, 2009 at home. He and his wife, Claire McGroarty Burke, celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on June 18.

Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Franklin L. and Edna Prosser Burke. He was a graduate of Morrisville High School and Trenton State College. He still holds the freestyle record at Morrisville Pool. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. He was a self employed building contractor. He was a co-founder and co-builder of Bobby O’s Restaurant on Dupont.

He is also survived by three sons, Mark Burke, and wife, Lela, West Chester; Thomas Burke, Dallas, TX; John Mann, Lawrenceville, NJ; daughter, Jennifer Rouleau, Wolfeboro, NH, a sister, Marilyn Osborne and husband, Earl, Angleton, TX; three grandchildren, Nate and Will Burke and Breana Mann; mother-in-law, Florence McGroarty, Lawrenceville; sister-in-law, Patricia Davies and husband, Butch, Cape May Ct. House, NJ; brother-in-law, Daniel McGroarty, Lawrenceville, NJ; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the Baloga Funeral Home, 1201 Main St., Pittston, with the Rev. David S. Brague, Pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, Pittston, officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects during a celebration of Robert’s life on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
