Walter J. Rauch

Walter J. Rauch, 93, formerly of Forty Fort, died November 2, 2009 at Guardian Elder Care Center, Nanticoke.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre and was a son of the late Edwin and Harriet Kitchen Rauch. He graduated from Lake Township High School. He had resided on West Pettebone Street in Forty Fort for more than 50 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Eberhard Faber, Mountain Top, and earlier for the Glen Alden Coal Company for more than 29 years. He was a member of the Forty Fort United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men’s Club. He was a member of Kingston Lodge No. 395, F&AM, since 1945. He was an avid bowler and belonged to the Idetown Bowling League, Dallas, and the Business Men’s Bowling, Exeter. He was also a life member of West Pittston Hose Company No. 1 and the American Contract Bridge League.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Frances E. Rauch, on May 15, 2000; sisters, Elma and Liva; brothers, Joseph, John and Stanley Rauch.

Surviving are his daughter, Brenda Harvey, and her partner, Gregory Kaminski, Wilkes-Barre; one grandson, Paul Westenheffer, and his wife, Bobbi; two great-grandsons, Aidan and Joshua; one nephew, Jack Rauch.

Funeral services were Nov. 5 from the Hughes & Son Funeral Home, Forty Fort, with the Rev. Donald A. Roberts Sr., officiating. Private interment Forty Fort Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Forty Fort United Methodist Church, Wyoming and Yeager avenues, Forty Fort, 18704.
