Walter Popish III

Walter Popish III, 35, of West Pittston, died March 2, 2010, in M.S. Hershey Medical Center, following a courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on October 9, 1974, he was a son of Walter Popish Jr., of Duryea, and Judy Scull Popish, of West Pittston. He was a graduate of Pittston High School. He was a member of the Goodwill Volunteer Hose Co., West Pittston; an EMT for West Pittston Ambulance; and a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter. Prior to his illness, he was employed at Pa. Bedding, Old Forge.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Popish; and sister, Stacey Popish.

Also surviving are his wife, Michelle Salerno Popish; son, Cody; brothers, Steven Popish, Wilkes-Barre, and David Popish, Dallas; paternal grandmother, Melba Popish; godson, Michael Palermo; goddaughter, Aine Mae Popish; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.

Funeral services were March 6 from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
