William N. Galasso

March 3, 2010

William Nicholas Galasso, 68, of Honesdale, died March 3, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Arlene M. Kanarr, on September 1, 1998. The couple married December 9, 1972.

Born April 22, 1941, in Pittston, he was a son of Rose Yaletsko Galasso, of Pittston, and the late James W. Galasso Sr. He was a graduate of St. John’s High School in Pittston, Class of 1958, and in 1962 graduated from the University of Scranton. He received his master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. He did social work in the area throughout the years before taking ill. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Galasso Jr.; and a brother; James W. Galasso Jr.

Surviving are his sons, Matthew Galasso, Esq., and wife, Shannon, of Hawley, and Christopher Galasso; of Honesdale; his daughters, Lori Krol and husband, Kevin, of Honesdale; Mary and Jannelle Galasso, at home; sisters, Madeline Solorzano, of Dallas, and Gwendolyn Galasso, of Pittston; a sister-in-law, Constance Galasso, of Swoyersville; his grandchildren, Kyle, Lauren and Leah Krol; Noah, Ashley and Alyssa Galasso and Xander Nelson; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 6 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
