The Greater Pittston YMCA is inviting residents on a train ride.

The Greater Pittston Charity Steam Ride will take place Sunday, September 6.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Pittston Memorial Library, Greater Pittston YMCA and the Care and Concern Free Health Clinic.

“It is a brand new event. It a fundraising project,” said Tina Fisher, YMCA executive director. “We will use our money for our Strong Kids Campaign to provide scholarships.”

The No. 425 Baldwin Light Pacific Steam Locomotive will take passengers to historic Jim Thorpe for the afternoon. The train will depart from Mr. Z’s parking lot in Duryea at 9 a.m. and return at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets are $75.00 and must be purchased in advance.

Tickets can be purchased by making a check payable to: Greater Pittston Charity Steam Ride c/o 47 Broad St., Pittston, Pa. 18640.

The classes are offered Monday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m.

Also part of the summer line-up is a cardio combo class, cardio kick class, a low impact workout, proflex, Silver Sneakers, step aerobics and yoga.

A full schedule of spinning and water aerobics classes are also being offered.
