Free fun, just when we needed it

Anyone who attended the “Fireworks over the Susquehanna” last Sunday night will tell you it was fabulous, the best ever.

We agree.

The aerial show was something to behold, but so too were the activities on the ground. Families were enjoying the company of each other, neighbors were catching up with neighbors, and kids were having fun. It was everything a community should be.

That it was free of charge made it even more special, particularly in these difficult economic times. The show may very well have been the highlight of the summer for some.

We commend the officials of Pittston and West Pittston for making sure it happened. And we encourage all who are able to send a donation to the Pittston/West Pittston Community Fund (35 Broad St., Pittston, PA 18640) to ensure future fireworks events.
