Thanks, Doc

More than 40 years. More than 400 high school football games in all sorts of weather. Thousands of physical exams. Who knows how many turned ankles, pulled muscles, bruised hips.

And yet, as his son Michael says in an article on page 41, to retire as the Pittston Area football team physician was one of the hardest decisions his father, Dr. Joseph Lombardo, ever had to make.

Dr. Lombardo was honored by Pittston Area Friday for his four decades of service and dedication. It’s an honor well deserved.

We add our congratulations and gratitude to a man who could have spent his Friday nights doing a host of things a lot easier than patrolling the sidelines of the Patriots. But according to Dr. Lombardo, none more rewarding.

Thanks, Doc. You’ll be missed.
