We are community

The Greater Pittston YMCA Board of Directors is inviting residents in the Greater Pittston area to An Evening of Honors.

The 2009 Tribute Dinner, An Even of Honors, is being held Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs from 6 to 9 p.m.

The theme of this year’s event is “We Are Community” and residents who have made a difference in the Pittston area are being honored.

“The Greater Pittston YMCA is an integral part of the Pittston Community,” said Tina Fisher, executive director. “Volunteers play a key role at the Pittston YMCA and in our community life.”

The 2009 honorees include Brian Cawley and Mike Fino of the YMCA, Trooper Robert Lombardo, and the Pittston City Ambulance, Fire and Police departments.

“This year’s honorees are a very important part of our community,” said Fisher. “They ‘give back’ enriching the community and the lives of those that live here.”

Michael Lombardo, director of Governor Rendell’s Northeast Office and former Pittston mayor, is guest speaker for the event.

Mohegan Sun and local business and community members are sponsoring the event.

A heavy buffet will begin at 6 p.m. and an awards ceremony will follow at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $35. Tables of 10 are available for $300 and high-top tables are available for $150.

To purchase tickets or to learn more about becoming a sponsor, please call Laura Cowher at 570-655-2255 ext. 103 or email at lcowher@greatepittstonymca.org.
