PA Drama Club to present play this Friday and Saturday

The Pittston Area High School Drama Club will be presenting their fall production on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The play, which is called The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of Macbeth, is a comedy about a community theatre group trying to stage Macbeth in hopes of gaining entrance to a prestigious drama competition. The group is faced with shoddy sets, subpar acting, and backstage disasters.

Tickets for the show are $5 for adults and $3 for students. There will also be a bake sale each night during the intermission. For more information contact Mrs. Amy Saunders or Mrs. Kelly Vincelli, at the high school, at 654-2415.

PA Student Council gives back By: Stephanie Bartz

The Pittston Area Student Council sold football necklaces on November 2 and 3 to the support Muscular Dystrophy Association. The cost of the football was $1 and was sold in grades K-12.

Purchasing a necklace allowed students to wear jeans on November 6, the day of the pep rally for the Pittston Area/Wyoming Area football game.

In addition to helping Muscular Dystrophy, the sale was also a competition between PA and its rival, WA. The Student Council is confident with its 2,500+ necklace sale against WA. Head of the Student Council, Ms. Jill Oliver said, "Either way it is a victory for children with Neuromuscular diseases."
