If you need information on H1N1, driving, or fitness, look around the Pittston Area High School. Health teachers, Mr.Blaskiewicz and Mrs. Fereck, have been working on displays to make students more aware of certain topics.
Students in the health classes researched on the computer, cut out articles, and came up with the ideas for the bulletin boards.
The bulletin boards were designed to help promote healthy decisions. The bulletin boards are on display throughout the school for the month of November. Student Marisa Ferenchick said, “ I think it’s a good thing that they’re putting the bulletin boards up because it shows the students the dangers of drinking and driving at any age, let alone underage drinking, and the consequences of drugs and alcohol.”
The next big display is on AIDS in December. There’s also one coming up about smoking. Mrs. Fereck said “Mr.Blaskiewicz and I feel that getting the students involved and having them work on this project helped them to become more aware of current health issues.”

By: Andrea Llewellyn "It was a tough decision for the judges, but it was all about creativity" said, Mrs.Judy Greenwald, art teacher at the Pittston Area High School. This year’s window painting contest had more participants than ever. There were a total of twenty students who created Halloween scenes on the windows of different classrooms.
In order to compensate for the high amount of painters, Mrs. Greenwald stated "We just had to raise the amount of place winners to six so the kids could get more prizes." First place winner was Lauren Hahn with her Hocus Pocus painting in room A5. Next were second place winners Devon Davis, Liz Raffa, and Kara Kozar with “Dice and Cards” in room C9. In third place were Amanda Gretz and Tiffany Prescott with their rendition of Monsters Inc.
Also, fourth place winners were Kayleigh DeMace and Sarah DeMace who painted Where the Wild Things Are in the art room. Fifth place was won in B11 with the painting of The Peanuts from Charlie Brown. The fifth place winners were the following students: Elena Dominick, Chelsey Feddor, Jonathan Weidlich, Brittany Hogan, Allison Welling, and Amber Shaffer. The sixth place winners were Lyndsie Johndrow, Rachel Loiacono, and Jen Hreha with a Pokemon themed window.
The winners were selected on October 28 by ten faculty members.
