Cara Capozucca and James Castellino, members of our high school national honor society, are currently sponsoring a fundraiser called “Kaiden’s Cause”. This cause is to benefit the grandson of our very own Mr. and Mrs. Calabrese, who has been stricken with a serious illness. “Kaiden’s Cause” bracelets are on sale for $3.00, and a Bowl-a-thon will be held next Sunday, March 21st in which proceeds will also benefit Kaiden. For more information, please stop by the main office. Thank you for your generosity.
The 8th grade panoramic picture will be taken this Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. You can order your picture at www.panoramaphoto.com, or by turning your paperwork into the photographer on the day of the picture. Don’t forget to wear your school colors, class T-shirts, or make it a dress up day.
Sixth grade students will be taking the Otis Lennon School Ability Test on Tuesday, March 23rd. The test will be given in the morning. Please be in attendance this day unless excused for illness.
The Colleen Shea Foundation is selling boxes of Jon L. Stopay Peanut Butter Chiffons for Easter. The cost is $6.00 per box, and proceeds will benefit children’s programs and organizations in the community.
The foundation was founded in the memory of former Pittston Area student, Colleen Shea whose dream was to positively affect the lives of children. During the 2005-2006 school year, the foundation raised the necessary funds to construct the “Colleen Shea Memorial Playground” located at the Pittston Area Primary Center.
Orders can be placed by completing and returning the order form to your homeroom teacher by Friday, March 19th. Checks should be made payable to the Colleen Shea Children’s Foundation.
The PSSA Reading and Math Assessments will be held from Wednesday, April 7th through Friday, April 16th. They will be given to all students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. It is of extreme importance that all students attend school on the days of the test unless excused due to serious illness. In addition, students should have a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast on exam days. The school will provide a healthy snack to all students taking the exam.
Our Middle School Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for March 15th through March 19th. Students will be able to shop for books during their Related Arts period. Not only does the Book Fair help raise funds to purchase essential classroom and library resources, it encourages reading among our students. Our Book Fair provides a wide variety of books specifically selected to appeal to middle school interests. The Middle School Book Fair is run by Mrs. Clancy, our Librarian, and the Middle School Library Department. See you there!
Daylight Savings Time began today, so be sure to adjust your clocks.
The District Dentist will be visiting our middle school on Thursdays, March 18th and March 25th to conduct 7th grade dental exams.
MID-TV’s schedule for March 15 through March 19: Members of the Red Team should report to the TV Studio first thing in the morning. All members are reminded to check in with their homeroom teachers prior to reporting to the studio.
There will be Spring Chorus practice tomorrow and Wednesday from 3:10 until 4:45 p.m. in the Intermediate Center band room. Students are responsible for their own transportation home and all rides need to be at the Intermediate Center no later than 4:45p.m. In order to keep our students safe, all parents must pick-up their child at the main entrance to the Intermediate Center. Students will not be allowed to leave the building without the accompaniment of an adult.
The Spring Chorus Concert will be held on Tuesday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.
