Pittston Area Kindergarten Center holding ‘Spirit Week’

A field trip to the Scranton Cultural Center to see The Silly Jellyfish will take place on Thursday, April 15, 2010, Students and their chaperones will ride the bus to and from the show. The students’ tickets and bus cost will be paid by the PTO. Money sent for the pumpkin patch trip will be credited as the chaperone fee for those who already paid. School Pictures

School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. The order form was sent home via the red folder. Please fill out the form and include payment in the envelope and return tot your child’s teacher by Monday, November 9. If your child is absent the day of the pictures, they will be rescheduled for another day. You will be informed of the make-up date.

Basic Hygiene Presentation

Our nurse, Mrs. Donahue, presented a teaching program to our students on basic hygiene practices. Topics included proper coughing, sneezing and hand washing techniques. Discussion also included potential poison and choking hazards. A coloring handout was provided to all students.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences have been scheduled from November 17 through 20 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. All students will be dismissed early. A conference information sheet will be sent home to all parents via the red folder on Monday, November 2. The sheet includes the specific day and specific time you have been scheduled to meet with your child’s teacher. Please sign and return the slip no later than Monday, November 9. If you must change the day and/or time, please call the school at 654-0503.

PTO Fall Fundraiser

The annual Pittston Area Elementary PTO Fall Fundraiser is now complete. You will be notified soon about the pick-up dates and times.

School Spirit Week

School Spirit Week is November 2 through November 6. Students can show school spirit by dressing as follows: Monday - Team Logo day; Tuesday - Inside Out Day; Wednesday - Mix and Match Day ; Thursday - School Color Day; Friday - Pep Rally Day.

Necklace Sale

The Pittston Area Senior High Student Council is selling football necklaces for $1, which students may wear on Pep Rally Day, Friday November 6. If you would like to purchase one for your child, please send the money into your child’s teacher via the red folder no later than Tuesday, November 3. The necklace will go home with your child on Thursday, November 5. Proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. end of First Marking Period

Monday, November 9, marks the end of the first marking period. Report cards will be distributed during parent/teacher conferences.

Box Tops for Education

The Kindergarten Center is going to be collecting General Mills Box tops for Education logos. The Kindergarten Center will get 10 cents for each box top we collect. The more we collect, the more cash we earn. Just clip the box top logos from participating General Mills and Betty Crocker products and send them to school with your child.
