Wyoming Area Catholic students celebrate the autumn season

To honor the special autumn season, Mrs. Toomey’s fifth grade students created, then painted, their own unique face on pumpkins. Pumpkins were donated by Mr. Moran, owner of Miller’s Country Store. Pictured are:

Student Council

Recently, Student Council Elections were held at Wyoming Area Catholic. Seven Candidates, from grades 7 and 8, vied for the position of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. Students from grades 4-8 voted in this election for the officers of Student Council. The administration, faculty and staff are pleased to announce the officers of Student Council for the 2009-20101 school year:

President: Nikki Scarantino; Vice-President: Michael Pelligrini; Secretary: Meg Grablick; Treasurer: Vicky Sidari

Elections for classroom representatives will be held this week.

Peace Poster Contest

Recently, the seventh grade students participated in a Peace Poster contest sponsored by the Jenkins Township Lions Club. They are pleased and honored to announce the winners of this contest:

1st place: Gaetano Buonsante; 2nd place: Madonna Mantione; 3rd place: Megan Moran

The student, along with their families, will be honored at an Award Ceremony which will be held on November 10 at Tony’s Pizza at the City Line Plaza beginning at 6:30 PM.

Fundraiser

With the holidays almost upon us we have decided once again to have a fundraiser designed to hopefully make your holiday season a bit brighter and a bit easier. Wyoming Area Catholic PTG will be selling Poinsettias, which can be ordered now through Nov. 24th. The colors available will be red, pink, marble or white.

Flowers will be delivered on Monday, December 7th and can be picked up any time between the hours of 2:45-3:45 p.m. or between the hours of 5:30-6:30 p.m. at St. Cecelia’s Church Hall. The cost for each poinsettia is $9.00 for a 4-6 bloom plant and $15.00 for a 9-12 bloom plant.

All orders must be pre-paid and checks payable to WACS. Order forms have been sent home for each family. For more information call the school at 654-7982.

Intramural Finals

Mr. Gerard Renfer, physical education teacher and moderator for the Intramural Sports Program is pleased to announce the final scores for Volleyball and Flag Football.

Volleyball Champions

On Oct. 26 the Flip Flops defeated the Fruit Loops. Members of the Flip Flops are:

Girls Flag Football

Playoff Game 1: The Purple Koalas defeated the Hoobastanks to advance to the championship game. In the Championship Game the “Oompa Loompas defeated the Purple Koalas. Members of the Oompa Loopas are:

Boys Flag Football

Round 1 Playoffs: Cyclones defeated the Panthers and the Buckeyes defeated the Lions.

WAC Bowl

In the Championship Game, the Cyclones defeated the Buckeyes. Members of the Cyclones are:

Captains: Tyler Guildford and Gary Loughney

Peter Kulick, Justin Renfer, Zachary Voitek, Matthew Clemow, Justin Januszko

Congratulations to all the athletes on a fine season. A special congratulation to all the champions from each sport. Thank you to Mr. Renfer for a fabulous season and learning experience.

NYC Trip

The Wyoming Area Catholic School is sponsoring its seventh annual New York City Bus Trip on December 12, 2009. The cost of the trip is $29.00 per person. The price includes transportation, light refreshment, and a subway sub for the ride home. The bus will leave the Midway Shopping Center in Wyoming at 7:00 a.m. and will depart NYC at 7:00 p.m.(light refreshments will be included).

During the trip you are free to do whatever you may wish. A non refundable $10.00 per person deposit is due, and full balance paid by November 20, 2009. Checks should be made out to WACS (Wyoming Area Catholic School) and sent to the school office in an envelope marked “Attention NYC Bus Trip.” There will be no refunds.

Tyson Project A+

Wyoming Area Catholic School is taking part in a national fundraising program sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. called Tyson Project A+. All we do to participate is clip and save the entire Project A+ label from participating Tyson Products. Each label we collect is worth .24 for our school. A collection site has been set up at Wyoming Area Catholic where you can drop off your redemption labels.

Instructions for School Delays

Wyoming Area Catholic School will go according to Wyoming Area School District for delays, early dismissals and cancellations due to bad weather.
