After the harvest, Mrs. McGeehan had her class listen to the folktale, Stone Soup, by Marcia Brown. Then with the help of “homeroom mom,” Patti Aufiere, the children make Stone Soup in their classroom.

Our Montgomery Avenue Elementary PTO is conducting a food drive for Thanksgiving and one at Christmas time. Anyone wishing to donate any kind of non-perishable food for this project can do so anytime up until the Christmas Holidays. Anything you can donate to this food drive would be greatly appreciated. The food will be donated to the United Methodist Church food pantry across the street from our school.
The class with the most food collected will be rewarded with an “ice cream party” from our PTO around Thanksgiving time and again for the class that has the most food collected at Christmas time.
Schools will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in the observance of Veteran’s Day. Schools will resume on Thursday, November 12th.
The PTO will hold a “Fall Frolic Dance” for all our 5th grade students from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12th in the school cafeteria.
