Students make windsocks to fly over Tenth Street Elementary

Students of the fourth grade classes at Tenth Street Elementary learned about instruments that measure air in motion. Students constructed colorful windsocks to observe and measure the wind direction and its speed. Teachers are Mrs. Bonomo and Mrs. Przybyla. Building principal is Mrs. Margaret Grimes.

Spirit Week

Week of Nov 2nd dubbed Spirit week at 10th St.

Monday will be wear your crazy hat and inside out day

Tuesday will be favorite sport team or Glamour outfit

Wednesday will be pajama day (proper dress code)

Thursday will be Wyoming Area spirit day. Wear green, gold, and white.

Friday will be crazy hair and mix match sock day.

November PTO meeting change

Our Next PTO meeting will be Monday, November 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. All are welcome. Fifth grade parents are asked to provide a treat for the meeting. The change is due to Parent teacher conferences on Tuesday. We will also be having a Chinese Auction at this meeting. Anyone wishing to donate items please contact Melissa Yarmey at 693-2106.

Volunteers

We are still looking for a volunteer to chair Santa’s workshop this year. If you are interested please call Leandra at 693-1116.

PTO meetings are the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. We encourage everyone to attend and participate.

Mobil Ed

Nov 2nd, we will have our first in-school program. Mobil Ed will present “Inspector IWANNAKNOW”. It will take place beginning at 9 a.m. in the gym.

Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held at the school on Nov. 10 12 to 7 p.m. There is no school Tuesday, Nov. 10th and Wednesday, Nov. 11th. The fundraiser pick up will be during parent/Teacher conferences, Nov 10 between 12 and 7 p.m. You must sign for Entertainment books in the gym. We will also be having a Chinese Auction and Bake sale this day. The proceeds from the Chinese auction/Bake sale will go towards the student’s field trips.

Ballet

Fourth grade will be attending a performance of The Nutcracker Ballet on Dec 11th at 10 a.m. at the Scranton Cultural Center.

Football

Football tickets will be sold on Fridays during lunch for home games only.

Fridays will be “Spirit Day” at Tenth St. Dress your child in green, gold, and white to support their schools teams.

Feed-A-Friend

Feed-A-Friend collection has opened. We appreciate any donations. There are barrels at the school. Toys for Tots campaign will begin November 2nd.

Box Tops and Soup Labels

Continue saving your Box-Tops and Campbell’s labels. Bags have been placed in classrooms and will remain there throughout the year. Please be sure to register your Price Chopper cards. Please continue to send in your Capri/Kool-Aid pouches; our first week alone we collected over 160 pouches just at lunch. Please rinse them off before you send them in.

Smencils

Smencils are back. We will be selling Smencils on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch only. Holiday Smencils will be available the first week of November.

Lost & Found

There are quite a few coats in the lost & found in the cafeteria. If your child is missing a coat, please have them check in the box in the cafeteria.
