As part of her Wyoming Area senior project on landscaping, Stephanie Swartz planted mums at JFK Elementary School, Exeter. Along with donating three-dozen mums, Marion Ciampi from Ciampi’s Greenhouse served as Stephanie’s mentor. Stephanie, who resides in West Pittston with her mother Pauline, plans on attending Keystone College.

Superintendent Raymond J. Bernardi, Wyoming Area School District announces that once again the District will host their annual Veteran’s Day Program on Wednesday, November 4 at 12 noon at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center, 20 Memorial Street, Exeter. Members of local service organizations and Wyoming Area Veterans will be honored guests at a luncheon followed by an assembly in the gymnasium before the entire student body. All veterans in the Wyoming Area community are invited to attend. Please RSVP by calling Ann Moore at 655-3733 Extension by Wednesday, October 28.
The November meeting will be held on November 12th in the Chorus room at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center. The regular meeting will be held at 7:00, the executive committee will meet at 6:30.
The Wyoming Area Drama Club Parents will be meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the Secondary Center. All parents of Drama Club members are welcome.
Sunday, November 1: Ice Hockey team will hold "Meet the Warriors" at 12 in the cafeteria.
Tuesday, November 3: Good will luncheon with Pittston Area at Fox Hill sponsored by Student Council. Election Day!
Wednesday, November 4: Key Club selling ribbons benefiting Lt. Jeff DePrimo fund. Veterans Day assembly. Boys Choir festival at Lackawanna Trail High School.
Thursday, November 5: Pep rally for the Elementary schools. 2nd 7th and 8th grade rotation ends. 1st marking period ends.
Friday, November 6: Pep rally at 1:30 in gym. Dance from 9:30 to 11:30. 2nd marking period begins.
Spirit Week: Monday: Blue Day; Tuesday: Black Day; Wednesday: Pink Day; Thursday: Purple Day; Friday: Gold Day
The Wyoming Area Key Club will be conducting a collection to benefit UNICEF at the October 23 football game against Tunkhannock. Monetary donations will be taken at both entrances and at the Key Club concession stand.
All Secondary Center students are reminded that collection boxes will be placed in all classrooms from October 26 to October 31.
All physicals must be in by November 4th and all forms must be in by November 2nd.
Wyoming Area Marching Band will be performing in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, FL over Christmas Break. They are currently selling myparentsrewards cards for $20. See band members or myparentsrewards.com for more info.

Gianna Custer lives in Exeter and is the daughter of Paula and Brian Custer. She participates in Chess club, Key club, Spanish club, SADD/TATU, and the National Honors Society. Gianna is the captain of the Field Hockey team and has played for 5 years. She works at Intermountain Medical and Newberry Estates. Her favorite subjects are Spanish and chemistry. Gianna’s favorite teacher is Senora Marionacci because she never gave up on her students. After high school she would like to attend Penn State or Misericordia and will be majoring in Nurse Anesthetist.
Peter Lello lives in West Wyoming. He is the son of Denis and Bernadine Lello. Peter works three jobs at Fox Hill, Gerrity’s supermarket, and Avenue Auto Shop. His hobbies are cars and sports. Peter’s favorite subjects are history and science. His favorite teacher is Mr. Rutkoski because he has taught him a lot. Peter will major in business in college and plans to be a car salesman after he graduates.
Sarah Solano lives in Harding and is the daughter of Joan and Fred Solano. She participates in SADD/TATU, Spanish club and student council. Sarah has played basketball for 6 years. In her free time she enjoys jet skiing, basketball, and babysitting. Sarah will be majoring in Elementary Education after graduating. Her role model is her mother because she is always there for her and leads her in the right direction.
Andre Harris lives in West Pittston. He is the son of Ted and Denise Harris. Andre is a part of the National Honors Society and FBLA. He plays baseball and plays the outfield and pitches. Andre enjoys skiing and bobsledding in his free time. He loves every subject. A memorable moment for Andre was eating lunch with Mr. Shifano. Andre will be majoring in business management after graduating and hopes to own his own business some day. His role model is Mike Tyson.
