Senior Center Veteran’s Day special dinner Tuesday

Are you eligible for benefits and don’t know it? RSVP ambassadors will be available at the Pittston Senior Citizens Center by appointment only to check. Millions of older Americans with limited income are eligible for but not receiving benefits from existing federal, state and local programs. Ranging from heating and energy assistance to prescription savings programs to income supplements, there are many public programs available to seniors in need of they only knew about them and how to apply for them.

To set up an appointment to see if you are eligible for any of these programs contact Connie or Hazel at 655-5561.

Tickets are now on sale for our annual Christmas Party on Sunday, December 13th from 12 to 5 at Jenkins Township Social Club. Cost is $23. G.T.O. will provide the music for your dancing or listening pleasure. For further information, contact Connie.

Apprise volunteers will be available by appointment only for Medicare recipients to examine different prescription plans and decide whether to stay in their present plan or change to a new plan during the open enrollment dates of November 15 to December 31, 2009. To set up an appointment call Connie or Hazel.

Senior Citizens Centers, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming counties, offer hot noon meals Monday through Friday to people 60 years of age or older. Donations from participants are gratefully accepted and needed in order to expand this program.

Monday - Roast turkey breast w/ thin gravy, Brussels sprouts, bread stuffing, whole wheat, dinner roll, cherry cobbler, margarine, milk, coffee.

Tuesday - Veterans’ Day Special Dinner - Beef braciole, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mixed vegetables, chocolate cake, margarine, milk, coffee.

Wednesday - Centers Closed for Veterans’ Day.

Thursday - Baked ham, sugar snap peas, roasted red potatoes, graham crackers, 12 grain bread, peach pie, margarine, milk, coffee

Friday - Macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, low sodium lentil soup, whole wheat bread, canned pineapple, margarine, milk and coffee.
