53rd Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Zigmund Sr., Jenkins Township, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on Tuesday. They were united in marriage June 2, 1956, in St. John the Baptist Slovak Church, Pittston, by the late Rev. John J. Bednarcik.

Mrs. Zigmund, the former Irene Timek, is a daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes Timek.

Mr. Zigmund is a son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Zigmund. Prior to his retirement, he was a transportation specialist at the U.S. Post Office, Wilkes-Barre.

The couple has been blessed with eight children: attorney Edmund Zigmund, Florida; attorney Robert Zigmund, Philadelphia.; Lenny, at home; Valerie Pierson, Port Griffith, Jenkins Township; attorney Marilyn Zigmund Luke, Maryland; Irene Kovaleski, Plains Township; Loretta and Paul, both deceased.

They have two grandchildren, Robert Michael Zigmund and Aiden Robert Luke.
