B&G Beverage not closing for condo project

Joe Potenza stopped by the office and said a lot of his customers at business B&G Beverage on Kennedy Boulevard got the wrong idea from a Dispatch story about the condo project on the boulevard. Many are under the mistaken impression that B&G will be demolished for the condo project. This is not the case. B&G was not acquired for the project and it will not be demolished. Joe said B&G will remain open for business as usual.

Happy Birthday to Mrs. Audrey Yager celebrated her birthday on February 5. She is a councilman in Duryea Borough and best wishes are sent from family friends on special days.

Matthew Finn, son of Carla Finn of Luzerne (formerly West Pittston) and Barry Finn of Swoyersville (formerly West Pittston) has attained the Dean’s List at Lock Haven University for the fall semester 2009. He is a senior majoring in Sports Management/Administration and just completed a fall football coaching internship with the Wyoming Area` Warriors and Coach Randy Spencer.

The West Chester University College of Health Sciences had named Dara A. Dirhan, daughter of Coleman and Diane Dirhan, West Pittston to the 2009 Dean’s List. Dara is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics. The Dean’s List recognizes degree-seeking students who complete 12 or more hours in an academic semester and achieve a semester grade point average of 3.67 or better.

Recent Grad-

Mary Ann Janoski of West Pittston has been awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan University. Janoski’s accomplishment was celebrated during a live graduation ceremony on January 30 in Miami, FL. General Colin L. Powell, the 65th Secretary of State and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, served as the commencement speaker.

Johnna Miller of Duryea, a senior at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, had a photograph accepted for publication in “The SCOP,” the college’s fine arts and literary magazine.

Miller is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Medical Honor Society, Aquinas Society, Biology Club and the Q&A Club. She is also the co-editor of “The SCOP”.
