Biduck receives Richmond Merit Scholarship

Michael Biduck of Jenkins Twp. received the “Richmond Merit Scholarship Award” for the 2009-2010 academic year from Johnson College in Dickson City, Pa.

Michael is enrolled in the Carpentry and Cabinetmaking Technology program and had also achieved this same award last year.

He made the Dean’s List for both semesters with a 3.63 GPA in the Fall of 2008 and a 3.69 GPA in the Spring of 2009.

Michael is the son of Michael and Michele Biduck, Jenkins Twp. Grandparents are Michael Zaboski and the late Josephine Zaboski of West Wyoming and Anthony and Lucille Biduck of Wyoming.

Recent Grad-

Corey Lewis graduated cum laude from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa on May 23, 2009. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with a minor in architecture. He has accepted a position with CECO Associates, an engineering firm in Scranton. He is the son of Jim and Linda Lewis of Wyoming, grandson of Emrys Lewis of Easton and Marceline Tedrow of Forty Fort.

Jenna Trojnacki, daughter of Ronald Trojnacki of Dupont, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications. The degree was awarded in May 2009.

Employee of the Month-

Richard Golden, CEO, Golden Technologies, is pleased to announce that Duryea resident Carol Charnogursky has been named the Employee of the Month for August 2009.

Carol has been employed as a Sewer at Golden Technologies since 1996. She was selected for this honor due to her excellent attendance record, her cooperative attitude and her attention to quality.

When asked about receiving this award, Charnogursky commented, “It was very nice being chosen, it feels good to be recognized!” Carol received a plaque, monetary gift and the reserved Employee of the Month parking spot.

Carol, who originally is from Old Forge, lives with her husband, George, in Duryea.

Chicken BBQ-

The Mt Zion Bicentennial Fire Company will hold a chick BBQ on Sunday, August 16 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost for an adult is $8.00 and $5.00 for child. For tickets call 388-6266.

Widmann Gallery-

Local artist Theodore Scazafabo will open at King’s Widmann Gallery on August 17. Influenced by heightened, symbolic colors and exaggerated imagery of expressionism, techniques of impressionism and the spontaneous improvisation of abstract expressionism, local artist Theodore Scazafabo’s creative works combine digital objects and digitally manipulated images with elements of nature.

His original works will be on display in the “Theology” exhibit held in the Widmann Gallery at King’s College from Monday, August 17, through September 18.

Scazafabo will discuss his craft during a gallery talk on Friday, September 18, from 6-8 p.m.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Gallery hours: Mon. through Fri., 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sat. and Sun., as arranged. The Widmann Gallery is located in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, between North Franklin and North Main streets.

Receives Scholarship-

Keith Griffin is a 2009-10 recipient of a $500 Foundation Leadership Scholarship from Clarion University. Griffin, a freshman chemistry/business major, is a son of Nelson and Mary Griffin of Dupont and is a graduate of Pittston High School.

Pilgrim Statue

The Diocesan Statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be at the resident of Diane Skrzykowski on Elm Street from Sunday, August 16 thru Saturday, August 22.

Prayer services will be held each evening beginning at 7:30 p.m.
