Dr. Campenni presents findings in San Francisco

Dr. Estelle Campenni, West Pittston, recently delivered findings from her most current research at two international conferences held in San Francisco from May 22 – 25.

A qualitative assessment of real life examples of mindfulness was presented at the 21st annual convention of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) and the second annual conference of the Society for the Study of Motivation (SSM).

Additionally, on June 13, Dr. Campenni gave a lecture at an international conference sponsored by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). The complex demands of the research mentor: Becoming aware of the challenges was presented as part of the Globalization, Shared Governance and Academic Freedom conference. The event is designed to provide faculty perspectives on critical issues in higher education.

Dean’s List-

Leah Arcuri, daughter of Dino and Geraldine Arcuri of Plains, has achieved Dean’s List during her Spring Semester at the University of Scranton. Leah is an alumnus of Bishop Hoban High School where she was a principal’s list honors graduate. At the University of Scranton she is a member of the National Honor Society. She is a nursing student at the university and will be starting her junior year in the fall.

Melanie Daniels of Pittston has been named to the dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College for the spring 2009 semester. Melanie is enrolled in the college’s Division of Hospitality, Resort and Culinary Management and earned a semester average of 3.3 or high to receive this distinction. In addition, Melanie was named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8.

Samantha Bartolomei of Plains and Mark Liberski of Exeter have been named to the Wilkes University’s dean’s list for the spring semester.

Stephanie M. Konecke of Wyoming has been named to the Dean’s List at Virginia Tech. Stephanie is a sophomore majoring in chemistry in the College of Science.

Stephanie Griffin of Pittston has achieved the Dean’s list at Saint Francis University for the spring semester.

Christina Insalaco of Pittston made the Dean’s list for the spring semester at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

Recent Grads-

Gary Gall of Pittston Twp. graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications studies from Susquehanna University. He is the son of Gary and Georgann Gall and a graduate of Pittston Area High School.

Gall’s activities at Susquehanna included the football team and WQSU, university radio station, where he served as sports director. He was named 3 Year Varsity Letter Winner, Chris Vialonga Coaches Award Winner, 2 Time Liberty League All-Academic Team, and 1 Time Mid-Atlantic Conference All Academic Team. He is also a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association Honor Society, and was named most outstanding student in his major. Following graduation, Gall plans to attend graduate school.

Kayla Szulewski, daughter of Joseph and Angela Szulewski of Dupont, graduated Cum Laude from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was also placed on the Dean’s List with a G.P.A. of 3.59. Kayla has accepted a position as High School biology teacher with Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in Cambridge, Maryland for the 2009-2010 school year.
