JLW to hold spaghetti dinner on November 1

The JLW Mountain Laurel Lions Club will be holding their annual spaghetti dinner on Sunday, November 1 at the West Wyoming Hose Company Banquet Hall on Shoemaker Avenue in West Wyoming.

Take-outs will be served from noon until 4 p.m. Dining room will be served from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Adult dinners cost $7.50, children’s dinners cost $3.50.

For reservations call Karen at 885-1650 or contact any club member. Tickets will be sold at the door and all are welcome.

Recent Grad-

West Pittston resident Christina Mansfield graduated magna cum laude from King’s College at recent summer commencement exercises. Mansfield received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.

Air Force Airman Matthew A. Pietrowsky graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Penny Evans of Pittston and Alan Pietrowsky of Palm Harbor, FL. Pietrowsky is a 2008 graduate of Wyoming Area Secondary Center.

Lawrence Bufalino graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

The cadet is a student at Gannon University, Erie, Pa. He is the son of Rebecca Shelli and the stepson of Brian Ratchford of West Pittston. Bufalino is a 2005 graduate of Wyoming Area High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from Mercyhurst College, Erie.

A girl was born to Melissa and Arkadiaz Mercado of West Pittston on October 13.

A boy was born to Casinia Cooper and Vincent Albertelli of Pittston on October 16.

A boy was born to Mandy and Edward Prebola of Pittston on October 16.

A boy was born to Jaime and Michael Colarusso of Exeter on October 17.

A son was born to Cara and Jim Serino of Pittston on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Nesbitt Women’s and Children’s Center at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Free Concert-

King’s College will host a free public performance by renowned sitar artist Alif Laila and tabla performer Anubrata Chatterjee at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Burke Auditorium of the William G. McGowan School of Business, located on the corner of River and West Union streets.

Laila is one of very few female sitar artists in the world today. She has dedicated her life to learning and mastering classical Indian music. She trained for eight years under the late Ustad Mir Qasem Khan in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Laila also earned a bachelor’s degree from The College of Fine Arts, Dhaka. Looking for a stress reducer? Looking for an easy way to relax? Join the YOGA classes at the American Legion building in West Pittston on Linden Street. Anne Bramblett Barr, a certified yoga instructor, is offering yoga classes on Monday nights from 6:45 to 7:45PM(until November 9th) and on Tuesday mornings from 8:45 to 9:45AM(until November 10th). Price is $5.00 per class. The health benefits from yoga are numerous but the major benefit is the relaxation one feels after each class.
