Lt. Daniel John Grabo, Jr. MD of Blackwood, New Jersey , and formerly of Pittston completed a six year General Surgery Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. Grabo is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, the University of Scranton and Georgetown University School of Medicine.

He is married to Janet Ramos of Vineland, New Jersey and the proud father of their three year old son Daniel John Grabo, III. He is the son of Dan and Theresa Grabo of Pittston and has a brother Attorney Michael D. Grabo of Providence RI.
Dr. Grabo has distinguished himself while at Jefferson as an excellent surgeon and also has conducted, published and presented research in the area of Tissue Engineering. He has been invited to serve as a journal reviewer for the Journal Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.
Dr. Grabo will report for duty with the United States Navy at Norfolk, Virginia Naval Base. He has been assigned to the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier. He also has been selected to complete a Trauma Surgical Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

A girl was born to Candice and Paul Kondratick of Exeter on June 12.
Happy birthday to Deborah Goldstein of Duryea who will celebrate on June 29.
Laura Marino of Bear Creek will celebrate on July 1.
Lisa Ray Kossuth of Old Forge will celebrate on July 3.
Colleen Tigue DeFrank of Hughestown will celebrate on July 4.
Atty. Frank and Sharon Mazzeo of Wyoming will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on June 30. They have three daughters Francesca, Maria, and Sharon. They also have a granddaughter Melania.
Dave and Daneen Williams of Hughestown will celebrate on June 28.
Tim and Sherri Dougherty of West Pittston will celebrate on June 28.
Aimee Goldsworthy of West Pittston graduated from York College, on May 16, with a BS degree in nursing. York College is located in south-central Pennsylvania.
Jaime Louise Myrkalo of Inkerman graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor’s degree on May 17.Jaime majored in biochemistry-molecular biology.
Amanda Evanich, daughter of Andrew and Patricia Evanich of Pittston, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Scranton with her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She graduated with a GPA of 3.82 and was on the Dean’s List every semester. She will pursue her Master’s Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Scranton before entering into Professional School.
Ms. Heather McAndrew of Duryea graduated from Misericordia University, Dallas, Pa. Heather earned a B.S. in Special/Elementary Education. Heather is the daughter of Colleen and Billy McAndrew, Duryea. She is the granddaughter of the late Betty and Hugh Bentham, Avoca and Bill and Betty McAndrew, Avoca.
Heather has accepted a teaching position at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, Maryland for the 2009-2010 school year.
Heather also has a sister Ashley who will graduate from Pittston Area on June 9.
A party was held in Heather’s honor at Cooper’s Cabana in Pittston.
Army National Guard Pvt. Matthew D. Dwojewski has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma.
Dwojewski is the son of Linda Dwojewski of Hughestown and Robert Dwojewski of Ashley. The private graduated in 2008 from Hanover Area High School.
Fred Pierantoni, of Dupont, has joined the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute as a summer Communications Intern. He is responsible for assisting the Community Relations Coordinator with ongoing communications and public relations efforts.
Fred is a senior at Wilkes University. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with concentration in Public Relations. Fred plans to graduate in May 2010.
Matthew Panzitta of Pittston has been named to the Dean’s List for the 2009 spring semester in Villanova University’s College of Engineering. Panzitta is a sophomore.
