The Music Box Repertory Company will hold auditions for A Christmas Carol on Tuesday October 27 and Wednesday October 28 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St. Swoyersville, PA 18704. Direction is by Kevin Costley and musical direction by Ted Anderson. All roles are open. Performance dates are: Nov. 28, 29, December 3 to 6, 10 to 13, and 17 to 20.
Auditions for children ages 8-17 will be from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and adults ages 18+ will be from 8-10 p.m.
All will be asked to sing a song of his/her choice. Those interested in a speaking role will be asked to read from the script. Anyone ages 8 & over is welcome to audition.

A walk tobenefit the Lupus Foundation will be held at Kirby Park at 10 a.m. Sunday October 18. According to the foundation about 40 percent of people with Lupus have extreme fatigue, numbness in the joints and muscles. It also attacks the immune system, which causes, rashes, memory loss, kidney and organ problems. A victim of this disease is in pain everyday. Most of the medications have very bad side effects. The local Lupus Foundation chapter is located in Scranton.
Jenkins Township Lions Club is collecting used eyeglasses. A collection box is available at the Jenkins Township Municipal Building, 46 1/2 Main Street, Inkerman during business hours Monday through Friday. Thank you for your help and support.
Army National Guard Pfc. Nikko Coolbaugh has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox, Ky., which included basic combat training and advanced individual training (AIT).
He is the son of James Coolbaugh and Lori Thomas, both of Wyoming, Pa. Coolbaugh graduated in 2009 from the Wyoming Area High School.

He is the son of Diane Pilarcik of West Pittston. The private is a 2009 graduate of the Wyoming Area Secondary Center.
Bring out the blankets and lawn chairs for a free public concert featuring the musical blend of American jazz and spicy rhythms of the Caribbean by Latin jazz quintet, Salsamba, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, October 21 at The River Common: Millennium Circle on N. River Street, across from the King’s College campus.
Based in Pittsburgh, Salsamba is composed of Eric Susoeff, guitar; George Jones, congas; Paul Thompson, bass; Eric DeFade, sax and flute; and, John Rampolla, drums. The band has been featured on NPR’s American Jazz Radio Festival program and has performed at clubs, festivals and colleges throughout the United States. They have opened for Latin Jazz King Tino Puente, guitarists John Scofield and Stanley Jordan.In 1999, Salsamba released their third recording, “LATINVENTIONS,” featuring fiery rhythms, lyrical melodies and sensational improvisation. The band recently released a fourth CD titled, “The Traveler.”
This program is supported by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council on the Arts, a state agency, through its regional arts funding partnership, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA).
