Pittston Farmer’s Market open until Thanksgiving

Autumn nights and days are not a deterrent to the many vegetables and fruits at the Pittston Farmer’s Market that will be in operation until the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving. Farmer Harold Golomb said that the autumn frost makes the vegetables in the cabbage family sweeter namely brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, and swiss chard. Jumbo sized carrots and potatoes along with many other vegetables are still selling at the vendor stands.

This is the season for apples and it is time to start thinking of the pie baking for Thanksgiving. Linda Brace has a wide variety of apples for baking and eating. A most delicious apple for both is the Fortune Spy.

Food vouchers from the PA Dept. of Agriculture are still being accepted.

The market is open every Tuesday from at 9:00 a.m. on the Tomato Festival lot on South Main Street. Closing time may vary due to weather and attendance.

For information call Maria and Chester Montante at 655-2398.
