Kristen Sebastian of Pittston received The Best Teachers award from Pocono Mountain West High School for the third consecutive year. The award is given from the students to teachers in recognition for being an outstanding teacher and for making a difference .Kristen teaches math at the high school. She graduated Magna cum Laude from King’s College in 2006 and is a graduate of Seton Catholic High School. Kristen is currently pursuing her Masters Degree at Wilkes University. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Sebastian, Pittston.

Kevin Boyanowski of Laflin, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Kings College. Kevin is the son of Wendy O’Frer and the late Joseph Boyanowski of Dupont. Kevin accepted an auditor position for the defense contract audit agency in Falls Church, Virginia.
Happy birthday to Diane Mazurkivich of Duryea who will celebrate her 40th on July 14. She has been married for 15 years and has two children Michael, 10 and Michalie, 7.

A girl was born to Stephanie Zielinski and Brandon Jones of West Pittston on July 3.
A boy was born to Charity Punko and Leonard Wasmanski of Plains on June 26
Deborah Jolene Parrent, daughter of Michael and Deborah Parrent, graduated from the Parrent Homeschool on June 14th with high honors. A ceremony was held at the Independent Bible Church of Duryea. Phyllis Biga has evaluated Jolene’s work from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Jolene is an active member of the church where she participates in teen choir, adult choir, and string orchestra on the cello. She played piano and organ for several church services and accompanied the children’s choir and Christian Character Club when needed. She is involved with the puppet ministry for Vacation Bible School and assisted in teaching children’s Wednesday evening class. Jolene ministered at the Laurel’s nursing home two Sundays a month with singing, piano, or cello. She enjoys helping in the nursery.
She played softball for Avoca/Dupont and soccer for Pittston Stoners. Playing in Marywood’s String Project, Jolene enjoys the rich sound of the cello. Her future plans include attending Bob Jones University in South Carolina to study early childhood education or high school with an emphasis in Biology.
Jolene is the granddaughter of August and Nancy Kramer, Duryea, and Lee and Leona Parrent, Las Cruces, NM. Arthur Pesotine is Jolene’s great-grandfather and Helen Daniels is her great-grandmother. Jolene has a brother, Michael, who has completed one year of college. She also has two sisters, Allison and Katie, who are homeschooled as well.
