Spring Craft and Gift Show today at PAHS

The Spring Craft and Gift Show sponsored by the Pittston Area Senior Parents Group of 2009 will be held on April 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pittston Area Senior High School, Stout Street, Yatesville. Donation is $1.00 per adult. With donation you receive a door prize raffle ticket.

Over 50 vendors will be selling their great gift items and Spring decorations. Refreshments and Chinese Auction. Proceeds will go for the All Night Party on graduation night of the Pittston Area Seniors.

Dean’s List-

Amber Borysewicz of Pittston made the Dean’s List for the first and second quarter at ITT Technical in Dunmore. Her major is Criminal Justice. She also attained perfect attendance for both quarters.

Anniversary Wishes-

Happy anniversary wishes go to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick C. Dileo Sr. of Exeter whocelebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on April 17.

Happy 25th Silver anniversary to Sandy and Cliff Kosick. They are the proud parents of Cliff Jr., a computer scientist at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland and Kurt, an electrical engineering student at Penn State, Harrisburg. Sandy is the daughter of the late John and Anna Naugle. Cliff is the son of Miranda and the late John Kosick.

Valley Rally-

King’s College Circle K Club is hosting “Valley Rally,” a 12-hour dance marathon benefiting the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville. It will be held from noon to midnight on April 25 in the King’s College gymnasium. Circle K Club, an international community service club sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Wilkes-Barre, will be teaming up with other local groups and clubs, including area high school Key Clubs, to host the event.

Dancers must be of at least high school age and are required to raise a minimum of $25 to donate to the hospital. The dancer that raises the most money will win a prize and all dancers will receive free food and drinks during the marathon. The event is open to the public with a $5 donation, which includes free pizza, a drink, and Rita’s Italian Ice. Other food will also be available for purchase, such as Hillside Farms Ice Cream, Domino’s Pizza, and Dunkin Donuts. There will also be music, games, basket raffles, and a moon bounce. The King’s Monarch dancers will also perform. The groups hope to raise $2,500 for the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.

Spring Fling-

Swoyersville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 644 met recently to finalize plans for the 4th Spring Fling Polka Dance to be held May 16 at the post home, Shoemaker Avenue. Music by George Tarasek, dancing from 7 to 11 p.m.

Sunday Brunch-

Saint John’s Lodge No 233, F & A, will hold an All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Brunch on April 26, at the Lodge Hall, 498 Yatesville Road, Jenkins Township. The buffet style brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu will include scrambled eggs, Eggs Benedict, sausage, bacon, hash brown, toast, ham, Chicken Cordon-Bleu, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, crab soup, vegetable soup, assorted beverages and desserts. Donation is $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from any Lodge officer.

Media Exhibition-

The artistic vision and talents of the King’s College community will be on view at the 21st Annual All-College and Variety of Media exhibition. Opening in the Widmann Gallery of the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center on Monday, April 20, the show features a meet-the-artists reception in the gallery on Wednesday, April 22, from 2:30- 4 p.m. The exhibition continues through Friday, May 1.

Members of the King’s community, including faculty, staff, students, and alumni display their original works: photographs, paintings, drawings, sculpture, crafts, and other artwork. In its 21st year, the event allows the entire College Community to view and appreciate the artistic talents of their King’s friends, colleagues, and peers.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Mon. through Fri., 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sat. and Sun., as arranged. The Widmann Gallery is located in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, between North Franklin and North Main streets.
