A team of Misericordia University communications majors was recently awarded a 2009 bronze Telly Award in the 30th annual Telly Awards competition for their production of “CougarCast.”
“CougarCast” is a monthly news magazine show that is written, directed and produced by Misericordia University communications students in the campus’ state-of-the-art television studio under the direction of Dan Kimbrough, assistant professor of communications.
The winning segment, “Winter Wonderland,” featured Elizabeth Guarnieri and Amanda Janiga, both of Pittston, as executive producers and fellow communications majors, Ann Gownley, Frackville, Brianna Logan, Webster, N.Y.; George Pierce, Kingston, Sarah Hite, Duryea, Michele Drago, Larksville, Jill Edwards, Kingston, Brett Ford, Hampstead, MD.; Rachel Roa, New Brittain, CN.; Shana Weinstock, Dallas, Maggie Young, Pittstown, N.Y., and Cody Hack, Bloomsburg, working as producers, production crew and on-air talent.
The 15-minute broadcast was aired on both MTVU and on Misericordia University’s campus event channel, and featured campus news and events. The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online file and video. The Telly Awards receives more than 13,000 entries every year from all 50 states and around the world, according to the Telly Awards website.
