United in Marriage

Second Presbyterian Church, Parsonage Street, Pittston was the setting for the celebration of marriage of Sara Rene’ Lucarella to Keith Richard Thomas on Friday, July 31, 2009. The Rev. David S. Brague performed the ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Thomas

Sara is the daughter of Louis and Julie Lucarella, Duryea and Keith is the son of Richard and Diane Thomas, Gilbertsville. Sara is also the granddaughter of Rene and Isabel Lucarella, West Pittston and the late Frank and Josephine Martinelli, Duryea. Keith is also the grandson of Janet Thomas and the late Richard Thomas Sr., Endicott, New York and the late Stefanie Johnson, Johnson City, New York.

Given in marriage by her parents, Sara chose her sister, Jennie as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were her cousins, Joell Martinelli, Duryea; Cara Bell, West Pittston; Cathleen Bell, North Carolina and Kristie Boyd, West Chester. Bridesmaids were also friends of the bride and groom, Nicole Diller, Shippensburg and Melanie Hersh, Blue Bell.

Keith chose his brother Reese Thomas as best man. Groomsmen were Steven Puzauskas, Boyertown; Dennis Lafferty, West Chester; Michael Prutzman, Exton; Keith Garrity, Chester; Jason Moyer, Royersford and Kyle Moyer, Royersford, all friends of the groom. Robert Davis, Taylor, future brother-in-law was church usher and Anthony Saitta, West Pittston, cousin of the bride was junior groomsman.

Sarah and Tom Lamar, godparents of the bride, lit the candles. Scripture readings were given by Elaine Bell and Patricia Martinelli, aunts of the bride; Ross Bentley, cousin of the groom gave the charge. Music was provided by Peter Uritz, pianist; David Alunni, violinist and soloist were Karen Sobuta, cousin of the bride and Raymond Lucarella, uncle of the bride.

The couple was honored at an engagement party given by her aunt and uncle, Anthony and Patty Martinelli. An evening cocktail hour and dinner reception was held at East Mountain Inn, Wilkes-Barre. The bride was honored at a bridal shower given by the mothers of the bride and groom, and her attendants at East Mountain Inn. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by parents of the groom, also at East Mountain Inn.

Sara is a 2001 graduate of Pittston Area High School and a 2006 graduate of West Chester University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, with a minor in education. She is employed by Downingtown East High School as a Social Studies teacher and is pursuing her Masters of Education degree from Wilkes University. She is also the Downingtown east Junior Varsity softball coach.

Keith is a 2002 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and a 2006 graduate of West Chester University. He is employed as an account manager for Verizon Business.

Following a honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple resides in Shillington.
