Lady Patriots win final; Patriots, Warriors finish 5-13

The PA senior volleyball players went out winners when they beat Nanticoke in four sets in the final match of the season 25-13, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19. Paula Stravinski led PA with 13 assists, 11 service points and four kills. Beth Yuschovitz had 11 digs and seven service points; Emily Ginochetti 16 service points and 14 digs; Lisa Ostrander four kills and three points. Amanda Gretz had nine kills and Brianna Dushok had seven service points and six kills.

PA lost to Lehman in another match last week in three sets. They almost pulled out the first set before losing 27-25. The other sets were 25-21 and 25-6. Yuschovitz had 10 digs, four kills and three service points. Also for the Patriots, Ginocchetti had 15 digs and seven service points while Amanda Gretz had 10 digs and six kills. The LPS also lost to Hazleton in a close four sets winning 26-24 and losing 25-20, 25-15 and 26-24.

Yuschovitz led the LPs with seven kills, 18 digs, six service points and one ace. Ginochetti had 26 digs and six service points, while Gretz posted five kills, 13 digs, two aces and three service points.

With the win against Nanticoke, the Patriots tied Wyoming Area in the final standings. Both finished 5-13, after WA had a tough week, losing their last three matches.

WA lost to Coughlin 3-1, winning the fourth set 25-19 and losing 25-23, 25-12 and 25-21.Casey Bohan had 19 kills, while Kelly Klaproth added 14 service points and 11 kills. Bohan is the program’s all-time kill leader.

Against Nanticoke the LWs won the first set, but lost the next three. Another 17 kills for Bohan. Allisa Dennis had six kills for the LWs. Freshman Biz Eaton 14 service points and 17 assists. Elena DeAngelo had five digs.

In Exeter on Tuesday the LWs lost to GAR 3-0 in three close sets, 26-24, 25-22, and 25-19. Klaproth had six kills for the Warriors, and Biz Easton had 15 assists and three aces.
