Lady Warriors win final game, head to D-2 playoffs

Jenna Skrinak scored unassisted with 8:42 left to lift the Wyoming Area Lady Warriors to a 2-1 win over Hazleton on Tuesday in Hazleton in their regular season final. Serra Degnan scored the first goal for the LWs at 20:00 of the first half, also unassisted.

The LWs won their last two games and three of their last four to finish 6-8-1 and as the Division II third seed in the 2A District 2 playoff tournament. The six wins are a program record and the playoff game is program first.

The LWs get a home game on Tuesday in West Pittston at 3:30 when the host Division III runners up Northwest (11-2-1.) Wyoming Area did not play Northwest during the season. The winner of the game plays at Wyoming Sem on Thursday at 6:30.

The Lady Patriots lost their final 3-0 to Holy Redeemer.

WA Junior High field hockey plays first round District 2 game at Crestwood on Monday.

The Pittston Area Lady Patriots lost their final game 3-0 to Holy Redeemer in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Katie Joyce stopped 16 shots to keep it close for the LPs, who finished 0-14-1
