The Pittston Area offense could be described as a dormant volcano that finally erupted Friday night versus Meyers in a 48-20 at Trippi on Senior night. Senior Chris Price went out in style in his final game on the home turf rushing for a Jimmy Cefalo number with 346 yards, five touchdowns and surpassing the 1,000 yard rushing mark for the season.

Pittston Area’s first touchdown came with 6:26 remaining in the first quarter when R.J. Emmett traveled 29 yards into the endzone. Less than two minutes later, Chris Price found a huge hole and broke loose for a 91-yard touchdown. Chris Musto added the PAT and the Patriots had a 14-0 lead.
With 56 seconds remaining in the first more Price with an 85-yard Td for a 21-0 lead.
In the second quarter the Patriots extended their lead to 28-0 with still another long Td run of 63 yards.
The Meyers Mohawks didn’t give up. They cut the Patriots lead in half with 2 second quarter Andrew Forgatch-to-Robert Waiters Td passes of 13-yard and four yards 4 to close within 28-14 at halftime.
Pittston Area came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. With 9:01 remaining in the third quarter, Price scored his fourth Td. The PAT failed, but Price’s 3-yard rushing touchdown gave the Patriots a 34-14 lead.
Later in the third quarter, Price scored his final touchdown of the night on an 8-yard run. Musto’s PAT was good and the Patriots increased their lead to 41-14.
With 10:00 remaining in the game, Rob Boney rushed for an 8-yard Td to close the PA scoring.
Musto’s kick was good and the Patriots lead peaked at 48-14.
For Meyers Matt Kropp found Alex Sharksnas in endzone for a 12 yard pass making it a 48-20 game.
Chris Price led the way for the Patriots. Price rushed for 346 yards and 5 touchdowns on just 17 carries.
Price is now the newest member of the 1,000 rushing season club at Pittston Area.
Jim McDermott had a solid game for the Patriots. McDermott accumulated 40 yards on 4 catches.
R.J Emmett had 4 rushes for 38 yards and one touchdown.
The offensive line was stellar Friday night. They created holes for Price all night and overall the Patriots had 482 yards rushing and 534 total yards.
“You have to give credit to the offensive line, they blocked people tonight,” coach Donato said.
The Patriots are now 3-6 and have arch rival Wyoming Area Friday at Jake Sobeski stadium.
