Wyoming Area senior golfer Vicky Petrosky won a state golf medal at the PIAA golf championships on Tuesday, October 27 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.
She started Tuesday tied for 18th in the 24-player field after shooting an 86 in the first round on Monday. On Tuesday she climbed into the top 10 to reach her goal of winning a state medal. She did it by lowering her score from Monday by nine strokes. She shot a 77 on Tuesday and finished ninth.
WA golf coach Len Coleman said she calmed down on the second day. “I told her to enjoy her last round, don’t put pressure on herself. The top 15 would be terrific.”
Vicky also has two district medals, silver she won this season and a gold from 2008.
Posters of Vicky can be seen at Januzzi’s Pizza and Smart Designs and Graphics in Wyoming and Tony’s Pizza in Pittston.
