Wyoming Area senior runner Josh Krall ran a 16:51 to place third in the Wyoming Valley Coaches Run at Misericordia University on Wednesday. Josh was six seconds behind Crestwood’s Robert Moulton, 16:45, who was second and 10 seconds of the leader Tunkhannock’s Reese Ayers, 16:41. WA’s Chris Hromek was 13th in 17:26.

PA’s Catherine Lombardo was the local girls leader and eighth overall in 20:52; WA’s Sara Radzwilka, 20:54, was 10th and PA’s Katilynn Kutcha, 21:06, was 13th.
Pittston Area was sixth in the boys team rankings and fourth in the girls team rankings. The Wyoming Area girls were 10th. The Wyoming Area boys did not field five runners and didn’t score.
WA’s top girls Michelle Golden was out sick. Coach Paul Leonard said sickness hit the team pretty hard. One boy, Kevin Anderson, didn’t run at all and the usually reliable Jacob Schultz and Andrew Charney were well below par.
“Not to sound like sour grapes,” Leonard said, “but sickness got the best of us.” Leonard is hoping Golden is well enough to run in the District meet on Wednesday. She was a medalist last season. He was happy with Radzwilka’s run. “Sara ran really well. She did a good job.”
The District 2 Varsity Cross-Country Championship meets are Wednesday, October 28 at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course, Mt. Cobb. The makeup date is Thursday, the 29th.
The varsity teams will be split into an “A” and a “B” division. The top seven runners must compete in the “A” race in both girls and boys varsity. These are the only runners that can qualify for states. For teams with more than seven runners they will be entered into the “B” race. There will be no medals awarded in this race.
Both WA and PA are AAA. The AAA boys race begins at noon and the girls at 1:30. Twenty medals will be awarded for each race.
